Juan Tamariz is not content to describe tricks, he comments, explains them: it is the journey of his thought and his talent that we discover through this book.

"Tamariz deceived and enchanted us with his wonderful routine. Nobody has the slightest idea of the way he drew his manipulations. No one, during the eighty years and more that I have devoted to magic, Blitted as he did ..."Dai Vernon

In this thick volume richly illustrated by James Hodges And the author (among others) entitled Sonata, the Grand Tamariz chose to bring together techniques and towers using cards and penniless, which he has developed during his already long career.

Most techniques and routines are described here for the very first time in French, although some have already been published in magic journals like Magia Potasia, Apocalypse, or Pabular.

Rather than a book constructed and structured, Sonata is more like a notebook in which ideas, towers, presentation tips, effects, routines, in short, have been called what the author calls Magic pieces All struck by the indelible footprint of their brilliant creator.

Most of the book (about 280 pages out of a total of more than 360) is devoted to the great love of Tamariz, that is to say the magic of the cards, one of the domains where originality and the Author's genius express themselves with the most force. The first section of this part reserved for cartomagie explains in detail a dozen techniques and includes an exciting study on pharaoh mixtures and their fascinating possibilities. The second section of this cartomagic part brings together fifteen routines, some with manipulations, some without (or almost), as well as effects using rigged cards.

The technical part of the book ends with an original study of the manipulation of pennilements: turnaround techniques, color change effects, transpositions, etc. Great art!
Sonata is an essential book not only for its technical and magical content, but also for philosophy which constantly underpins it and which runs between all its pages to give us, in filigree, the philosophy of the author and the journey of her thought.
