Imagine this: you are approaching a table in a restaurant. You take the restaurant candle and place it in front of you. You tell your spectators that you can concentrate your mental energies enough so as not to feel the warmth of a flame, thus making your hand waterproof in fire. To demonstrate this, you first ask a spectator to hold his hand over the candle flame and feel the heat of the fire. After he was convinced that it is indeed a real candle with a real flame, have your hands checked. (You have nothing to hide).
You stop a short time, concentrating your thoughts, and slowly place your hand directly on the flame of the candle at a height and for a time that would burn and certainly carbonize the flesh. You remove your hand from the candle and show your spectators that your hand is unscathed.
You now ask your participant to concentrate their thoughts as well. Ask him to imagine that he can also control his feelings; that he will not be burned by the candle flame. For example, he could imagine that a thick layer of ice covers his hand. When ready, take your hand and hold it a moment directly above the flame. He won't feel anything! However, you can control the moment when its concentration is interrupted and the heat returns. In a snap of the fingers, the heat becomes unbearable and the spectator will have to keep his hand away from the flame.
Blow the candle and, if you wish, offer it to your spectator as a memory.
