Spectators can return a card, then hide all the cards in the envelopes and mix them so that even they do not know where the color they have chosen is. The artist will know it immediately.
These telepathy cards are based on a diabolical principle attributed to Bob Fillman & Tan Hock Chuan.
In short: 7 uncapered envelopes are presented, each with an ordinary map inside. Each is of a different color. A spectator chooses a card, returns it and puts it back in the envelope. All the envelopes are closed, then carefully mixed. After the mixture, no one - neither the spectators, nor the artist - knows which envelope contains the chosen card.
The artist places the envelopes on a table and asks a spectator to choose one ... It's the right symbol! Instead of asking the spectator to find the envelope, the artist can bring it to his forehead, one at a time, to obtain a mental impression, then put aside an envelope - the one that contains the selection!
Note: the envelopes are identical and are not marked in any way. The interpreter cannot see in the envelopes and receives no visual clue of the envelopes. Each card is identical in size, shape and color, only the symbols are different. I have shown this effect hundreds of times and I often told my audience that the envelopes were ordinary ... that they came from an office supplies store. The cards are cut into ordinary cardboard. "If you pay me the replacement costs, you can have them!
This method is so subtle and infallible that it constitutes the perfect principle for many routines, from classic magical effects to mentalism. Accessories can be examined meticulously. The effects can be repeated. Even if a spectator tries to sow the mess, you always know the right answer! For example, if a spectator returns several cards, you will know it.
