HARRY PRICE : CONFESSIONS D'UN CHASSEUR DE FANTOMES
Harry Price (1881-1948) was a British parapsychic and prestidigator researcher, a pioneer of the rational study of the paranormal. It is famous for having used the most advanced techniques of its time (photography, cinema, recordings, electricity, chemicals, etc.) in order to investigate phenomena renowned unexplained. He denounced many fraudulent spiritualist mediums thanks to his expertise in illusionism, recognized by his entry into the Magic Circle in London in 1922.
Dissatisfied with the methods of the Society for Psychical Research, in 1925 he founded the National Laboratory of Psychical Research, attached to the University of London, thus laying the foundations for a real scientific research of the paranormal.
This book, initially published in 1936 and for the first time translated into French, is undoubtedly his most striking work. He brings together 22 of the most fascinating and controversial haunts of his career. A single document, between investigation newspaper, methodical revelations and analyzes.
In his preface, Érick Fearson writing :
"Although still a controversial figure nowadays, Harry Price brought together a set of skills that others in his time did not have. He was several lengths ahead of his contemporaries. And it is precisely this set of skills coupled with a brilliant, sharp and sharp mind, as well as a freedom of thinking and total speech, which made him innovative and made him the ideal target of his detractors. »»
