A nicely decorated box (33 cm x 20 cm x 18 cm) is presented. The front is closed by a sliding shutter, the back is open and, on one side, there is a hole through which a hand can pass. The hole is made in such a way that an assistant can actually reach the interior, but cannot see inside!
Now, an object, unknown to the public and your assistant, is placed inside the box. Your assistant (let's say it's a woman) puts her hand in the box and simply describes her by touching her.
She could say thus: "The object is soft, it can be compressed, it has holes, etc. It must therefore be a sponge. »»
The drawer is pulled up, so that the interior appears and there is a large very solid stone! "You have very sensitive fingers!" Said the magician, while showing the box completely empty on all sides. The stone is removed and the front drawer is restored.
The effect is repeated now. Another object, also invisible to the public and the spectator, is placed inside the box. The spectator touches the second object, describes it in detail and decides: "It is a piece of flexible and soft rope. »»
