"The puzzles of Canterbury" ("Canterbury Puzzles") is the first book of British genius Henry Dudeney, whose original edition appeared in 1907. It is also the first book of this author translated into French!

Dudeney had the excellent idea of resuming the decor of the "Canterbury Tales", a gesture of 24 stories written in the 14th century by Geoffrey Chaucer, the English Rabelais. We find the same characters there and, in places, the same rider.

Dudeney's guiding thread is the challenge given to a group of pilgrims who stop in an inn. This challenge is for everyone to offer an enigma or headache to others. The characters present sacrifice to the exercise, each riddle being the subject of a new chapter.

This volume 1 of "Canterbury enigmas" contains 54 puzzles as well as their commented solutions, and is accompanied by the engravings present in the original edition. Naturally, the solutions are added at the end of the volume, with all the necessary explanations. This book is intended for all audiences aged at least 15 years. The required level is not very high, except for some frankly difficult puzzles, but which are counted on the fingers of one hand.

Reactions
"Bravo for your unique and very interesting publishing policy for the lovers of mathematical games that I am (Martin Gardner, Dudeney, Sam Lloyd ...) and who does not master English too much. Transmit all my congratulations to your designers and translators! (Dominique C., April 2018)
