ATTRACTIONS VISUELLES DE COMPLÉMENT
jean de merry
The title of this book clearly announces its content. You will find detailed descriptions of four complete numbers relating to "visual additional attractions".
In the jargon of magicians, these numbers are often called "annex arts", meaning that they are complementary to conjure. I firmly believe that the magicians who perform in various contexts-galas, after-banks, Christmas mornings-can greatly benefit from the inclusion of such attractions in their shows. These additions can even generate additional opportunities.
My experience shows that presenting some additional numbers in addition to my main performance has always been advantageous to me. Often, commitments are signed only for these additional numbers.
Many interesting numbers can be included in this category, such as the infallible pulling rifle, the man with an extraordinary memory, and the Music Hall pickpocket. After a careful selection, I chose to detail four visual attractions of complement in this book:
- The rag painter
- The Transformations Fan
- Tabalin hat
- The magic of soap bubbles
These choices are not arbitrary. They offer several advantages: they are adapted to all audiences and can be presented anywhere, the required equipment is easily transportable, and these numbers are rarely seen on television or in public galas, which gives them freshness to public eyes.
As in my previous works, I gathered exhaustive documentation to make the descriptions as complete as possible. The improvements offered are largely personal, with certain adaptations of French and foreign authors, always cited when possible.
I would like to thank my designer, Meldini, who not only provided me with documentation, but also original ideas. Our collaboration has been strengthened over the years.
