The ghost of the card table was originally a typed text which was written and broadcast by Edward McGuire at the end of 1930 until about 1932. This became an instant underground classic and all men of eminent cards This era, including Dai Vernon, were fascinated by it.

The reason why this little manuscript was wanted was his subject, Walter Scott. During the summer of 1930, Scott and McGuire went to New York and organized a very private exhibition of what was then and should now be considered the biggest sleight of hand ever done! Scott allowed the other magicians to mix their own game and give it to him and he could always distribute winning cards. This completely duplicated those who witnessed it that summer. One of the few guests to see this master was Cardini, who exclaimed after seeing Scott, "Scott 500 years ahead of Erdnase!" Once the two men met, they became friends for life and Cardini, of course, wanted to learn the work that Scott was doing. This desire led Eddie McGuire to write what Walter had told him and send it to a number of letters to Cardini. Some of these letters (not all) will later be collected in part by McGuire and sale to select magicians who had heard of the now legendary Walter Scott. The latest typing sold by McGuire were not illustrated in any way and did not reveal all the information that had been sent to Cardini. Cardini's copy contained illustrations drawn by hand of certain elements of Scott's work and also contained a very beautiful section (never published before) from answers to the questions that Dai Vernon asked in Scott. To make the copy of Cardini, Cardini, who was an amateur photographer, convinced Scott even more special to sit for some photos of the work in progress. We believe that they were taken for the exclusive and personal use of Cardini, and these superb photos are published here for the first time and make this work much more accessible.

Now you can have this typed text never published before with additional materials and original photos of Cardini from the 1930s. This wonderful material is completed by other articles, most of which have never been published and photos of Scott and Others during private meetings, which have never been published before. We have also made great efforts to make it a critical edition by asking Lori Pieper and Maxwell Pritchard to carefully browse several other known manuscripts and published versions and by making more than 1300 critical notes allowing the attentive reader to understand what is different in This version compared to others later. versions that exist.

This magnificent book was designed and laid down by Stephen Mind and was printed in offset on natural color archive paper and with sewn signatures. We have chosen to use a 8 1/2 x 11 'format so that the student can easily put the book flat during the study. We also put the photos step by step taken by Cardini on two leaflets so that they can all be seen at the same time and also be used when the text is open. We also used a very flexible leather touch material which is both blind and stamped with the leaf. And we even put a ribbon so that you can keep your place during your studies.

Do not miss this opportunity to get what we think is the biggest, the most complete and the most beautiful edition of this ever printed work.
