David Berglas is an English magician and mentalist. His secret technique for locating a particular card in a deck has been described as the Holy Grail of card magic.
D. Berglas' version respects 4 criteria that no other variant has ever managed to meet. Here they are:
- The cards are in plain sight before the routine begins.
- A spectator names any card. No shill! The person can freely name the first card that comes to mind. No restrictions and no forcing!
- Another spectator says any figure or number between 1 and 52. Again no accomplice. The choice is free. No restrictions either.
- A third person is invited to count the cards up to the chosen number, and turn it over: it is the card named by the first spectator! The magician never touches the cards.
This effect was exclusive to David Berglas. To this day it has never been sold by any stuff dealer in the world. It was never available on the Internet either.
