The magic effect: "the number of the card" is considered to be the "Saint-Graal" of the cartomans thanks, among other things, to the performances of the magician David Berglas.
For those who do not know, here is a brief description: the magician asks a spectator a number between 1 and 52, then he asks another spectator the name of a playing card. The cards are counted one by one of a game, to the card which corresponds to the number chosen previously. We then see that this is the freely named card!
This type of effect is not very young, since it is already found, among other things, in the writings of Robert-Houdin and Erdnase ...
Many methods have been developed by magicians over the years. The magician Boris Wild decided to share with the magic community his version of the card to the number with the book "Acaab".
The six criteria of a real routine of "the number card" are present in Acaab:
- No accomplice (or even "instant accomplice").
- The "prediction" game is shown to the public in its case before the experience begins. It will then be placed in the magician's pocket previously verified by a spectator.
- The first spectator freely announces any number (a number of 1 to 52). He can really say any number. No restriction. His choice is completely free. The named number is noted on a control paper.
- The second spectator freely names any card to play. He can really say any card of a game of 52. No restriction. His choice is completely free. A map similar to that of his choice was released by the magician from another card package and is placed on the table as a control card.
- The "prediction" game then came out of the pocket and the third spectator himself counts the cards by turning them one by one to the number announced. The magician never touches the cards. It does not even open the case.
- The card revealed by the third spectator to the exact position of the number freely announced by the first is the one that the second has freely named.
